Most of us are looking for ways to improve ourselves and evolve, and what better way to do that than by looking at the routines of successful people and applying them to our own lives? Maybe you feel like you haven’t been putting enough effort into your career, or that you didn’t finish all of the tasks you had to do for the day, or maybe you’re just looking to upgrade your morning routine so that you can become more productive. You should know that this is a great start. And you can begin making changes by implementing some of the tips listed below! You don’t have to try everything all at once; maybe gradually introduce them into your routine, so that the change isn’t too drastic. You will definitely start noticing some improvements, not only in your personal life, but in your career as well!
1. Have breakfast
We all know that we should have breakfast every morning. But many women feel so pressured by time that they just skip breakfast altogether, or just replace it with a coffee. Breakfast is extremely important as it gives you the energy necessary to begin the day, kick-starts your metabolism, and also improves your overall health. If you’re not used to eating in the morning, start by having very small meals. Maybe eat a few cookies with a cup of coffee or tea, or maybe fruit, like an apple or a banana. Then expand your meals a bit as time goes by and you start getting used to incorporating breakfast into your morning routine. Try having a boiled egg or avocado toast, depending on what you prefer.
Various studies have shown how beneficial eating breakfast it is for your energy, productivity, health AND waistline! You don’t have worry that having a morning meal will make you gain weight, asstudies show the exact opposite. It helps to control it.
2. Exercise
We don’t necessarily mean you should go to the gym every morning if you really don’t have time for it. But it’s quite important to start being active early in the day. If you can’t go to the gym and exercise there, then opt for working out at home, in a 20-30 minute period. Put on some fun music and do some stretches, squats or even a few yoga positions, if that’s what you enjoy. There are lots of tutorials and apps that can help you make a short but effective at-home exercise routine, so there’s no excuse for being lazy! At first this will be a bit harder to implement, but you’ll notice results very quickly if you’re consistent with your workout. You’ll also be very proud of yourself if you can start being active and healthy in the morning! It’s the best way for your body to get used to burning calories throughout the day.
3. Implement a skincare routine
If you want to look fresh, young and amazing overall, then a good skincare routine is key. Skincare products should be applied both in the morning and at night in order for you to get the best results. Of course, the two routines usually differ. A nighttime skincare routine often consists of more products that work their way into your skin while you sleep, to help your skin regenerate. Your morning skincare routine should be quicker, more efficient and help your skin look radiant throughout the day. It’s also crucial to maintain your skin and protect it.
So how do you do this? You start by washing your face, preferably with a gentle cleansing foam that helps get rid of any impurities. Then, put a few drops of toner on your hands and press it into your skin. Toner hydrates and acts as a barrier, so it’s extremely important to have it on hand. After that, apply your favorite moisturizer to pamper your skin (remember, there no such thing as “too hydrated”. Whether you have dry, oily or mixed skin, it’s crucial to moisturize it). And for the last step, apply sun protection. It doesn’t matter if it’s summer or winter – it’s an absolute must to apply sunscreen so your skin is protected from harmful UV rays.
4. Make a list
There are some days when you just feel completely overwhelmed by the amount of things that you have to get done. This can be a bit daunting, and some of us tend to push away our responsibilities because they make us feel like we’re suffocating. Well, it’s time to stop.. If you feel stressed, start by making a list of all the things you have to do that day. You can easily do this while having your morning coffee, and it will become a habit very quickly. Once you put all of your tasks down on paper and make a plan for the day, they suddenly won’t seem so intimidating anymore. Try to stick to the plan as much as you can, so you can sure you’re being productive and not skipping any important things. Remember to be realistic! Don’t write down that you have to get 2 hours of exercise when you know your schedule won’t allow it. Another very important tip is to start with the tasks you find the most annoying. It won’t be fun to do them early in the morning, but you won’t spend the rest of the day stressing about them, which will greatly improve your mood!
5. Read a bit
You don’t have to read a whole chapter, as very few of us have time for that. But in order to keep your mind active, you should read something that interests you every morning, whether it be a few passages from a book you’ve just started, a new blog post from your favorite fashion/lifestyle/travel bloggers, a new recipe, anything. Keeping your mind active early in the morning helps you concentrate throughout the day, and you will find working easier. It’s also important to be up to date and learn new things, and, as we’re living in the era of technology, new information is easily available to us. This is also an amazing way to keep in touch with your interests! Maybe you’re passionate about fashion; a few minutes flipping through the newest issue of Vogue will help you become inspired. Or maybe you’re enthusiastic about travelling. If so, scrolling through a blog post with the most beautiful places to visit in 2018 will surely peak your interest. Dedicate a few minutes every morning to your mind and passions – it will make a huge difference.
6. Plan your outfits
Have you ever noticed how successful women always look put together? Their outfits look planned and chic. You can do the same and plan your outfit for the day early in the morning, or even the night before. Use a weather app so you know what kind of weather to get ready for, and choose pieces from your wardrobe that go well together. A good outfit will not only make you feel more confident, but it will also make others admire you. If you choose your clothes ahead of time instead of just frantically going through your closet and grabbing the first thing you see because you’re running late, you will definitely feel more secure and look put together.
Depending on the place you work, you may have a dress code, so will know what kind of clothes you should be wearing; it won’t be very difficult to pick something. Even if you wear a uniform at work, picking out an outfit you to wear until you arrive, or something to change into afterwards, will surely improve your mood!
7. Get rid of the annoying chores
Everybody has chores, and, let’s be honest, we tend to procrastinate a lot. It’s impossible to do all of them in the morning, but our advice is to get rid of the most annoying ones early. When you get home, tired from work and other activities, you won’t have the energy needed to complete all of them. For example, say you hate making the bed and folding all of your clothes nicely in your closet. In the morning, you’re energized, so it’s be best to do it as early as you can, and so you won’t feel bothered by it for the rest of the day! You’ll also feel proud of yourself because you managed to get that annoying task out of the day. If you procrastinate and keep avoiding your chores, eventually they’ll pile up and it will be much harder to take care of them. So take our advice and complete them early on! The same goes for other projects you find very annoying. The sooner you do them, the better.
These are our suggestions for habits to adopt into your morning routine. Most successful women do these, and we can all see the results. Of course, don’t expect to make such huge changes in a few days. Be realistic and think about which one of these tips you can start implementing into your own routine in order to become more productive. Start by making small changes and then adding a few more things into your routine. It will be a bit difficult at first, but if you want improvement you have to get out of your comfort zone! None of the successful women you admire did this overnight. They had to train themselves a lot as well.
Don’t forget to set your alarm early in the morning so you have time to organize and don’t have to rush! Put your phone as far away from your bed as possible so you won’t be tempted to press the snooze button (we have all done it. There’s no shame in it). However, if you keep ignoring your alarm, you may regret it later on.
